| Cost - 15-Gallon Gas Tank Replacement |
| |
We had to replace the stock gas tank on the Project Red Jeep due to some lack of
planning during the installation of the Daystar 1" body lift kit. We broke the filler neck on the old gas tank
and a new one was in order. We went with a stock replacement and the old tank was removed and the sending unit
as well as the skid plate were checked out to see what needed to be replaced. The skid plate was fine, so we
just replaced the sending unit along with a new steel 15-gallon gas tank.
The gas tank and sending unit kit were ordered up from
4wd.com as
they were found to be the least expensive ones I could find on the Internet. In a few days the parts arrived.

| Cost - Offset |

| Since replacing fuel system parts usually means that they are old and not working,
selling these items isn't usually an option. We aren't going to reuse the parts, so they will go into the trash
and therefore we can't offset the cost of the project.

The total amount does not include shipping. If I remember correctly it was a flat
amount of around $25.00 since the parts were a little heavy. Either way, you are looking at around $150.00 all
said and done to remove the old setup and put the new one in.
The total time should be around 2 hours all said and done. That being said, we took the time to clean out the
old skid plate and removed the old gas and made sure it could be reused with the new setup. Gas isn't cheap
these days and making sure you can reuse it is key to saving some money.
This is a pretty easy job and if you take your time, you shouldn't have any problems.
