| Cost - Heater Core Replacement |
| |
When doing anything to do with removing the dash, it is a great time to replace
the heater core. This allows you to get a new part in the Jeep, for a low price as to ensure years of operation
without having to replace it when you least expect it.
The install is very straightforward and requires some basic hand tools. There are no hidden costs with this
installation, although you could use a second set of hands to help get the nuts and bolts off of the
heater assembly as well as the battery tray out of the way. You will need some additional anti-freeze
after the installation if your old stuff is shot. There is also the possibility of doing a bronco heater
blower and core upgrade, but this doesn't work for all Jeeps, so check your application and see what works for
you and your Jeep.

The total time should be around 2 hours all said and done. That being said,
we spent some time to get the inside of the firewall cleaned up as well as cleaning up and out the heater
assembly as to make sure it was all cleaned up and sealed up tight.
As you can see, there is no offset for this project, but all in all this is a relatively cheap project that
adds confidence and assurance that hopefully this part won't fail when you need it most since it is now new
and should last for years. This is a great thing to do when you have the Jeep apart and should have been
something I did on the first project Jeep when I had the chance. I am know kicking myself because mine
has started to leak and for less the $50.00 anytime in the past 2 years when it was apart would have been
and excellent time to fix this. Learn from my mistakes, do it when you have the chance.
