Cost - Mopar Authentic Tailgate Installation

When I got the Jeep, there was a tailgate that was attached to the rear of the Jeep, but it
had seen better days and I wasn't going to run a tailgate with the setup that I had in mind. As I drove the Jeep around over
the past year, the look of it was cool, however, it was seriously lacking in the space department. With the bed mounted spare
tire carrier, it took up all the space in the back of the Jeep, not to mention, the largest size tire that was ever going to
fit back there was a 33" diameter tire, so if I ever upgraded the tire situation, I would be lacking in that area as well.
So, it was decided to go with a different setup. I noticed that the aftermarket started crawling with authorized
reproductions, so I decided to check them out. Everyone was selling them and the quality seemed to be right in line with the
originals. They are in fact factory reproductions, so I ordered one up and I was on my way to having a tailgate.
The parts were ordered up from Krage Motor Sports as they
were found to be the cheapest ones I could find on the Internet. In a few days the parts arrived.

Total Time:
4 Hours
NOTE: This has to be broken down into pre-fitting time and then time to get the paint and such done.
It took about 2 hours of test fitting and drilling to get the tailgate on the Jeep. It took about 2 weeks of getting
the paint done and waiting for it to come in.

Cost - Offset

| I guess you could say that the offset of selling the original tailgate, hinges, and chains
would have offset the cost of this, however, I think I accounted for that in another write-up, so in this case, there is
no cost offset that can be justified here.

Conclusions

The total time should be around 3 hours all said and done for installation. That being said,
some time was spent fitting to get everything to line up right. You might get lucky and have everything go smoother then
I did. I also spent a lot of time researching the cheapest prices as well.
A second pair of hands would be good on this installation as well, that never hurts.
Finally, the time it took to get the tailgate back from paint was not figured into the final calculations, so that can be
added or subtracted, your call.
