(07/07/09) I am still trying to figure out the inspection cover issue that we have.
Apparently we now have a stock TJ bell housing. This was supposed to take the stock parts from the CJ, but in
previous pictures, you can see that is not the case. Advanced Adapters said they have never seen anything like this.
So this means that I am probably doing something wrong, but I can't see how this could possibly fit. I do think
that a swap into a vehicle that had an AX-15 would work as that dust plate is much different then what we have,
but I will keep digging. Also digging for the solution for the reverse switch. Napa gave me a plug, but it
wasn't the right one, so I am headed back there in a few minutes.

I am going to jump back on the body today after taking care of a few things around
the house. I was able to get the nice new POR-15 skid plate back on the rig as well as put in the transmission. I
can't bolt it down really until I figure out the dust cover situation. Also, I have some pictures of the doors
and yet another picture of the old bell housing to show to Advanced Adapters. The weekend killed any progress we
made, so I hope to make up some time today with the bodywork.

(07/08/09) I started the day with running around still trying to get the connector
and the inspection cover issue figured out. I am still not good with that. I then came home, tried out the
transfer case again with the notched skid plate and the front shaft. Now there is a ton of room for droop... it
looks like it will work fine.

I then spent a while taping each and every hole in the vehicle, and then putting
plastic in and taping that in place so I could start sanding. I stripped the side of the passenger side of the
Jeep down; I then sanded it with 40, 60, and finally 100 grit sandpaper before I hit it with some primer. I then
was pulled away for a family emergency, so upon returning from the hospital, the new drive shaft was at the door.
Only a few more pieces and I think we can get this thing back together... that reminds me, I have to go check on
the backordered pieces.

(07/09/09) The name of the game yesterday was bodywork, and a LOT of it. Mostly it
was stripping off the paint to see what I had to work with. The good news is that I didn't find anything bad. The
bad news is, it took so damn long! I was able to rectify the situation with the reverse switch connector. I found
some weather pack connectors at NAPA (part # 725171 and 725176) and now that just needs to be wired up. So, that
is good news, I am still waiting on work on the AX-15.
I sanded the whole thing down with 40, then 60 and then finally 100 grit and I shot the entire tub with primer.
Today will be a little filler work to 2 areas, let it dry, sand it up, primer that again, and then sand the entire
Jeep in 220, then re-primer it again... then a coat of RED hopefully. Maybe 2 coats, we will see about the time.
Either way, I hope to have color and clear on tomorrow by the end of the day. Curtis is coming up on Saturday
and Sunday and I hope that day is all on the frame putting in new lines, both brake/fuel, doing the rear axle and
drive train, and finally putting in the gas tank and really getting it ready to accept the body so next week I
can hopefully be wiring it up and finishing up painting body panels.

As we know, I have the best of intentions, but having a wife that is 7.5 months
pregnant sometimes interrupts that, so we will have to see how it goes.
So, one more thing to note was the strip discs. They cost a bit more to use, and they really do get used up as
the pictures show, but they are by far the best discs that I have ever used to strip a car. They are made by
Norton and I have only found them at Home Depot. I can't even find them on-line to buy them... very strange.
Anyway, the firewall took the most time and it is the most least visible spot on the rig once it is put back
together, but you still need to do it. Once that was done, the day was over and it was time for a BEER!

(07/10/09) Yesterday was a very long day. I started by fixing 2 areas that needed
a little filler, then priming them, then once that was dry, sanding the whole thing down with 220 grit, then
adding more primer, waiting for that to dry, and then hitting all the jambs with red, then rolling and spraying
the rest of the tub out. It too ALL day to do this, which I know is not that long when you figure the silver Jeep
took over 100 hours to do the body work, but we are on a time crunch here, so I can't do a full roller job, only
a modified one.

I hope to get some clear coat on the Jeep today and then it should be good for the
weekend, of which we have a ton of things to do to the drive train, and then hopefully get the body up on the Jeep
and bolt it down for the last time. I got most of the parts in, I am still missing 2 crucial pieces, one of which
isn't supposed to be here until Monday... which sucks, but it is what it is. I hope to get the other one tonight
or tomorrow night... and hopefully it fits! Either way, we have a ton of work to do over the weekend and next
week as well. I can't wait to see this thing sitting up there; I think it will be a work of art! LOL.
